GIVE TO THE COMMUNITY HOUSE | Why your support is needed

The Community House, an independent not-for-profit organization established in Birmingham, Michigan in 1923, welcomes all people. It works in partnership with individuals, organizations and businesses to bring educational, social and cultural enrichment to people in the metropolitan area. The Community House provides an exceptional facility for meetings and celebrations and is a home for classes and programs that enhance the quality of life.

The Community House is not publicly funded. The 84 year old Birmingham institution is funded entirely by fees for the services provided and by individual, corporate and foundation donations. We are not affiliated with the city of Birmingham. We receive no tax dollars from federal, state or local governments, or from the United Way Community Services. Your charitable gift helps close the gap between our operations and the affordable registration fees we collect by providing high quality programs, classes, rental space and catering. Many of the people who contribute to The Community House use our facility or are among the 1,000 individuals who volunteer here. Over 400,000 walk through our doors annually, coming from 370 different zip codes. We offer activities, programs and services to meet the changing needs of people of all ages and interests.

You are probably aware of our outstanding educational programs which serve infants to centenarians. There is a less public side to The Community House, however, that has equal importance. At the core of our mission is a strong commitment to serving our community and enriching people’s lives—our outreach programs.

The Community House relies on contributions to meet one-fourth of our annual expenses. With profound gratitude to our donors who make many programs possible, we ask your support in helping us continue to make The Community House a home for people of all ages, religions, ethnicities, and economic circumstances—a unique setting for learning, meeting and celebrating.
