The Community House Jazzfest returns to Birmingham for its 16th year, July 19-20, 2008. An estimated 20,000 people will pack Shain Park for 2 days of world class jazz entertainment. Past performers have included: Chuck Mangione, Spyro Gyra, Keiko Matsui, Bob James, Arturo Sandoval and Ahmad Jamal. Jazzfest attendees come from all over Metro Detroit. According to surveys collected at the 2007 festival, the median age was 49. Kicking off the event on Friday evening July 18, a party will be held on the Terrace of The Community House, featuring fabulous food and entertainment. Reservations are $75.

The Observer/Eccentric Newspapers will serve as the media sponsor for the 2008 Jazzfest. The Observer/Eccentric Newspapers will insert a Jazzfest Program in all Observer/Eccentric Newspapers the week prior to the event. In 2007, Jazzfest was promoted on Fox 2 News and WJR with Mitch Album. In 2007, features on Jazzfest ran in The Detroit News, The Detroit Free Press, The Oakland Press, The Birmingham Eagle, V98.7, The Metrotimes, The Royal Oak Tribune and The Jewish News and The Birmingham Eccentric.
